Collab-U
Fostering collaboration among students

The lack of cohesion and community between different disciplines and the support staff (janitors, security, faculty, administration, etc.) at The University of the Arts meant that students didn’t have a strong sense of trust and familiarity with each other to feel secure. Students described it as a “broken family.” My team and I created “collabU,” a tool for encouraging project collaboration across majors and disciplines. It provided a symbiotic way to share skills: communicating what students need but also what they can give in return. We believe that these interactions can not only make projects “richer,” but also bring together people from different disciplines to work together and “mend” the broken family.
